Virus Software for Mac

Can anyone recommend an anti-virus software for the Mac? I've been using VirusBarrier, but it causes problems with Onyx... it drops temp files into the hot folders, which then crashes ProductionHouse.

Thanks,
Jon

I'm assuming you're talking about your Mac as the client side (or however you want to phrase) and it's added temp files into the Hotfolders on the RIP server?

Does VirusBarrier have an option to whitelist and/or exclude certain folders/locations? Perhaps something as simple as that may prevent it from writing any information in the Hotfolders.

...or perhaps you've already done that and it still is doing it =)

I don't have a Mac, so I can't speak from personal experience, but I do know that Kaspersky has a Mac version of their software. We run their Business Space Security in our office and I have it running on my two RIP stations with no issues that I'm aware of. I did however have to exclude the entire Onyx folder, and perhaps something else, I don't remember what off the top of my head.

Welll,... don't use antvirus for your Mac!

We have antivirus for our Windows machines, but not for Mac
we have been working for ages with Mac, never had any virus
That possibly could change in the future but for now it's useless to have a
antivirus, i know it sounds biased, but those are the facts.

Yeah, we've never run anti-virus software until recently. One of our Macs got something on it - I think it was more spyware than virus. It's a nice anti-virus program, but just causes problems with Onyx.
Perhaps I'll just try the spyware route...
Thanks,
Jon
