Hello, Hopefully I can explain this to some detail what I am experiencing.. Let me list my equipment I'm using for a start.

Using Illustrator CS5 on a Mac Convert print and cut files to a ,pdf(Print qty). The cut line is a registered Onyx CutContour line That I have been using for year with this process.

,pdf is opened in Onyx 12 Thrive with the Graphtec Cutter Quick set selected.

Print Preview shows the "cut Line" is present.

Sent the Print both to the HP 360 as well HP 560 at separate times for this project. Using Oracal 3165 Material with a modified profile where the temperature is turned down as well Extra passes are applied.

After printing set up on the Graphtec FC8000 cutter. Read Marks effortlessly without error.

What I am experiencing is posted in the attach pictures. Using both Printers I get the same result the cut is off slightly to the left of the print. Providing the print is up side down when cutting it is shifted more into the -Y direction. Looking at the Print in the Job Editor window (Picture Posted) I see the cutline is askew just like the actual print that was cut.

To back up that I'm not an idiot I printed a color copy of my .pdf to show that my print and cut line are pretty dead center. 99% of my print and cut .pdf's going to print square and straight so It's hard to believe why they wouldn't show straight on the Print Preview.

Also I adjusted the temperature on both of the HP's to lower the risk of print warp or bowing. I did increase the passes from 10 to 12 due to an request when lowering the temperature.

To be honest I've printed square and rectangle shape cut through and kiss cut decals without a flaw. Circles, and contour shapes like this letters I see most of my issues. 98% of the time it's off in the -Y axis shifted to the left.

Let's discuss!!! I have jobs pending that I hope I can finish. What are your ideas about this Phenomenon?

Note:

Pixelate photo is of the .pdf file opened in Job Editor

Two other photos are of the Color copy print and the actual "Cut" Oracle Print.

no exp with using a cutter on onyx.

It could be the most basic problem. You said you use a quick set for your cut lines. Check the quick set or make a new one. something could be wrong inside it.
Or even try doing it manually.

I've had a problem where my quick set on onyx 10 overrides a setting and it completely screwed up my print. It printed a 8 pass file as a 6.

Ok i will look into that scenario. It does seem to be software glitch of some kind. I tried recreating the artwork and cut file on another computer, but I get the same results. Maybe the upgrade from 11 to 12 screwed with something up.

Thanks Pauly for the insight!

Any other suggestions?

So I save my print ready artwork out as .pdf under the "print Quality" prefix. Reading the Onyx Manual under the Quick Sets for Cutting I see they say to save it out as a .eps file. Is this true? Could the .pdf be creating this problem ?

Just a thought.

Here is some recent decals I tried to cut. The print is upside down when in the cutter so the cuts are off 1/16 or so in the +Y direction pretty much every print.

Hi Bart.

As the next test I would recommend measuring your prints with a precise measuring tape and a checking straight lines with a ruler.

We have two HP Latex printers, and what they sometimes produce due to the temperature... is unbelievable. Sad
