Two media printing oversize...?

I run lots of pop up drops. Different resellers like different media, so we run a number of different products. We've noticed that our old HP5500 has become inaccurate in length, 2225mm long images printing at 2235mm.

By printing the same image across two machines and several media we've isolated this to being a machine issue, and only with two specific pop up media - both of which have a satin back. The very same file, pulled back into ripqueue from the archive section below, prints to the correct 2225mm as shown in the RIP on all other media, but leaving the RIP unchanged and switching to one of these two rogue media the print is too long!

There is no visible degradation in the print.

It is absolutely consistent. Although the print must be distorted as it's coming out 10mm bigger than it should, the five panels of the pop up walls always align perfectly. Every print is distorted exactly the same amount!

So I can only conclude that the HP5500 pulls this media through fractionally too much BUT not enough that the print shows any sort of structure or change!

I am properly confused as to where to start to fix this. Can anyone offer any thoughts/advice?

Craig

I don't recall if its available in 7.3.2, but you can add a Scale Adjustment factor to your print modes for the rogue printer in Media Manager> Edit Media> Basic Print Mode Settings> Scale Adjust

Hi,

I thought about that but as far as I can see it is overall scale that is adjusted. That would make panels too narrow when reducing the height. If there were an adjustment to scale only in length that'd do it, but I can't find that option.

Does it exist?

Yes it has both height and width scaling, of course this is in V10 and above.

In Media Manager I don't have scale adjust available. The notes say it is but I might need to add the feature in Configure Printer... I go there, and can't see where it can be enabled. Can you help?

Thanks

There isn't a way to turn this On or Off - It is part of the Mode Options.
If I recall correctly, the earliest implementation in version 6.5 required being enabled. Unfortunately I've not looked at 7x version for probably four years and version 6.5 is a very distant memory.

Perhaps one of the other forum members can chime in and offer some assistance.

Regards,
Doug
