I am getting a pulsing of colour in scan direction with very light tones. I picked it up in my backlit profiles both in direct to textile (JV5-320DS @ 720x1080) and transfer (Epson F7100/7200 @ 720x1440)

At these higher resolutions my chanel Ink limits end up quite low (sub 50%) and thought this may have been a contributor. I made a 720x720 profile on the epsons and the issue seems to go away but there are other print issues due to the lower quality and passes availible in this mode so 720x720 is not ideal

I only ever use stochastic screening but am thinking of investigating this further

If anyone has encountered this I would love your input

Ooh JV5, how I hate this printer! (it´s my primary printer).
We once had two JV5´s - one 160cm for solvent (totally problematic), and we still have the 320 for textile.
This one is sensitive like hell. I don´t remember the times when we were printing without banding. Sad New heads are printing with 100% quality maybe 3-4 months. Mad For most jobs 16-pass is necessary, 8-pass only for XXL format.

My experience with such banding issues:
- older heads ?
- older dampers ?
- using variable dot ?
- high speed printing ?

Mikulas, thanks for you reply

as an update to this, it appears to be a problem with the stachastic screening and unsquare print modes.

Switched to FDRP enhanced and output is much better. It was the Epson giving me problems this time but I have seen it in our Mimakis also so will have to reprofile when I get a chance and hopefully the same result.

Interesting your experience with Mimaki's. We have put in second one and find them rock solid. Not the fastest as you say but nice consistent output.

which ink are you running? if you don't mind me asking.

The small JV5 we had once had the original Mimaki HS inks. But that was
our worst experience with a printer. All media working problem-less with
all other printers were totally wavy on that Mimaki 160. And banding, and clogged nozzles, and problems with straight rolling the media. Nightmare. Sad

For textile we use Digistar inks from Kiian - a licensed version of Manoukian ARGON PES.
They have a quite strange cyan-blue. Very nice as blue, but quite week for cyan. Smiley Making me a lot of troubles because of untypical gamut-shape. Near impossible to get nice clean primaries thru ICC.
Are you satisfied with yours? What inks do you use?

out of curiosity,
When you choose you print mode profile ect, go to your colour correction area and slide them all to -100 then slide one colour to +100 (do to each channel) and see if it shows anything in the white section. or even slide them all to +100.

May have picked up something in the scan and depending on the setting you use, it changes the way it reads the whites. (only assuming)

Pauly, "scan" in this issue was meant like print-head movement... Wink

I thought I had this one figured, In my epson backlit profile I switched to FDRP Enhanced screening and problem solved.

I then had to set up a new media on the Mimaki so chose the FDRP Enhanced screening again but now I have the pulsing in the light tones again

Pauly, I did as you suggested but white points remained white as I adjusted sliders, Interesting trouble shoot though, I will remember that for future reference.

For what it's worth, nothing looks odd when viewed in photoshop, which makes me think it is a machine language issue

Best to be open minded though

Gotcha. !!

I only have flatbed exp. But if I had your issue I believe it would be something in the rip.
Basically all your changing is your dot pattern going to fdrp

Do you have a 10x loop you can look at the ink pigments. You can look at the area you're getting the colour to make sure its ink not the material reacting to the lights

Although not officially disclosed, based on estimates, it is one of the most developmentally expensive games Swtor Credits US ever made. The game had one million subscribers within three days of its launch, making it the world's "fastest-growing MMO ever", though in the following months the game lost a fair share of its subscriptions. The game is no longer subscription only and has a free-to-play option. The game was met with positive reception upon release and has received several updates and expansion packs. Several books and comics based on the game have been released. It is estimated that the game made $139 million in additional revenues, in addition to the subscription income, in 2013 http://www.swtorfast.com/
