Hi everyone,
I'm posting to ask how you would improve Preflight/Layout Tool?

Which of the two are you most likely to use?

What nesting improvement would you like to see?

Would you prefer nesting to remain in the Queue?

Do you see advantages to having nesting be part of job prep?

    Comments?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and observations.

How about irregular custom tiling by numbers with irregular bleed settings.

Flush cut LHS and bottom bleed top and right on first tile etc etc.

Cut paths for cutters to follow with naming possibilities.

Full screen visuals illustrating bleed, cut and overlaps, all at reasonable resolution.

Custom tiling is crucial for any wall graphics that needs to match irregular panels sizes including doors, windows edge wraps etc.

Seems like such an obvious feature for anyone ever worked in the print producing end of the industry...

I'd like to be able to limit the overall length of the sheet. I can limit the roll width, but I'd like to limit the length, as well.

Sometimes I can't get panels into a spot that I want them to be - for example, if there is a spot down there, but to get down there, I'd have to go off the roll edge - I can't always get there.

Have a default color setting of my choice, rather than having to apply my custom color settings to each different image.

Allow import of color correction filters.

did you ever had a look at PrepEdge Pro? There will be new version soon which tackles the issues we've seen in the past. It has all the tiling features you are asking for.

Forgive me, I could use a bit more info.
Not sure I follow on the sheet length? Are you speaking of tiling, or actual page sizes? There is the possibility to add custom page sizes as sheets. Instead of using a roll you can make a long custom sheet.

As for custom color settings, you can setup all of the Input, Rendering Intent and Pure Hue options in the Quickset "Color Management" section and then choose "Save As" in the presets pull-down menu. Once saved they should appear along side "All Profiles On", " Lighter Images", etc... Or are you referring to custom spot colors?

Color Filters can be imported in the Quickset. Edit Quickset> Advanced> Color Correction....

Thanks for the reply!

Prepress do not really want to work in one more application and thought this was the obvious one as a Preptool?

I have not seen anyone that has had anything positive to say about PrepEdge Pro so far but I agree that the intentions are very good. The marketing video is great and if it is came true fantastic!

Our Prepress department said " IIlustrator does this better and I already know that application"
