Onyx Thrive Virtual Printer

Onyx Version:
10.0.0.89, Thrive
Printer(s):
Jeti 3150 & 1224 HDC, Seiko 64 & 104s, Arizona 660

We are thinking about upgrading to Thrive so we downloaded the trial version. It turns out it doesn't support virtual printers anymore. I know you can use hot folders but this just seems a bit slower than picking your printer and have the capabilities of the printer dialog. You only have so many shortcuts in the save as window. Does anyone else know how to create a virtual printer in thrive? Or is everyone else using hot folders?
Thanks
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
Thrive is a good upgrade to consider. The Adobe RIP is more stable with processing PDF's. In a lot cases the freedom of building a workflow with JobEditor, RIP and Printstations all arround your network is super!
The virtual printers are gone! To many risks on wierd effects with colormanagement applied when generating the printjob from your application.
You could search for a program that publishes a windows printer and "spits out" a PS file in a specific Onyx input folder.
Just a receive and write thing.
Good luck!
Jelle

Just a quick thought, Many ONYX Thrive users have used the Production Manager for remote job submission. This gives a significant amount of control of job options.

Onyx Thrive 11

Epson, Mimaki, HP, HP Scitex and Seiko

build your quicksets and then navigate to the input folder and network share the printer"s" this way you can drag files into each quickset and have them put on hold after ripping so when you walk to the rip computer and load your machine all you have to do is unhold the job or jobs and hit print
