Hi all,

Does anyone has experience with the above mentioned combination?

The printer connects properly, it communicates and it even starts printing. But after a given amount of data it stops and starts waiting for data. X10 gives a printing error. The second print you send doesn't work at all, only resinstalling the Prninst will connect the printer again, but trying to print results in the same error.

Any idea?

Am I not allowed to ask questions here, or is it just because I am asking REALLY difficult questions that nobody reacts? ;-)

hehehe

Methinks you are correct.

Perhaps they are all intimidated, and assume that if Marco is having a problem then it must be some crazy, highly technical, way above our heads kind of problem, which we can clearly be of no service with.

Yeah of course....../ironic mode off ;-)

But you're right, that happens a lot. Even at manufacturers, when one of us asks a question they stop thinking. Actually it is great to have a reputation, but this time it sucks....big time ;-)

Hi b-man,

Yeah we do. All the latest, the best and everything should be like it is. It 'should' work, but it doesn't.

I am pretty sure it is a Mimaki USB problem and hoped more people are reporting it, so things might change.

As I recall (you know - to much solvent...) - it's only 32-bit. I'll check around.
Have you heard Mimaki Support about this? I'm a kind of interested in this too. We can't keep asking customers to buy PC's with XP Wink

It seems to be a 64-bit problem in combination with Win7. Win 7 32 bit works fine.

I asked Mimaki for a MS-DOS driver, in combination with Imagez (ONYX 1.0 so to say ;-)). I think that would be great. Only issue we have to solve is to get a serial i1.

Ah you mean the PISS OFF?

I think we should ask Scott to create a new topic group "Wide format Bull-shit" or so, before we starting discussing this. We might be accused of stealing posts to reach a higher status ;-).

I posted in here before about the JV33-160 doing the same thing. Like I said then, Onyx says it has no history of this happening on Mimaki printers running X10 but you and I know different. I have to clear the data before I can go back online and send another print.

Does the JV5 have firewire?
We run a jv4-180, and have had it lose it's firewire connection. It hasn't happened for awhile, I just go in to the configure port, and act like I'm reconfiguring it. Once it see's it, it is usually fine, I can cancel and exit out. We are really wanting to get a jv5, but if this is a known issue, I'd like to get in front of it.

Marco,
Did this get resolved?
We're looking to get a JV5 soon, this could be a huge problem.

Hi Guys,

Don't know if you anyone solved this yet? What is actually happening is that Onyx is not sending the signal quick enough and therefore not refreshing the printer cache quick enough, so the Mimaki stops receiving the info (The USB card bombs out on the signal side of things and the printer needs restarting,). Onyx needs the re-install to clear the cache on the pc (you can do it manually without re-installing).

The easiest way is to use a short(1.5 meters Max) high quality, hi speed USB cable that is grounded correctly on both sides (we had many issues using inferior cables on the Mimaki's)

We have run 4 months now without a hic-up.

Hope this helps
FYI I am a Mimaki Tech
