Hi all,
I have been working for a small printing company for the last 15 or so years.
I started as a scanner operator, and outputting transparency on a Fire1000. We have a Paintbox and a few Macs. I took over the IT side of things as well as learning putting files together for output. We now have around 40 odd computers, so my plate does get full on upgrade time.
Old printers include, LVT, Encad Novajet Pro50", 2x Kodaks 4042 (rebadged Novajets), HP5000, Epson Pro9800, Vutek 3360 solvent, Vutek 320/400 UV and 2x Lightjet 5000.
Current machines are a Arizona 550GT with a Zund cutter, HP L25500, Mimaki JV5 and 3 Lightjet 430's.
I have used a few rips over my time, all have good and bad points.
Currently use Wasatch (JV5), Colorgate (HP) and Onyx (lightjets and 550GT).
Calibrating and profiling over the years has been a steep learning curve, as everyone has their on opinion on how it should be done, and each software has their own way of doing it.
I have found Onyx X10 has created more questions, and not a lot of answers in the manual.
So here I am, hope to contribute and find some answers.
Thx

Sounds like you have got quite a bit of knowledge plunking around in your head. Hope this forum serves as a place to get it all out!!!
Good luck over there. Steer clear of the locusts!

Locusts are gone for now, floods are in.
I've only been helping with the profiling for the last few years, so still learning.
We currently use a Barbieri and its software, which is a lot better and faster than the DTP41T and Profile maker 5.
So far I am not a big fan of Onyx X10 profile building software, so don't use it to build the ICC profile.
The black art of ink restrictions and ink limits is always a battle with new printers and software.
Thx
