I would like a grommet tool in preflight - doing a long banner which will need ropes threaded through print and out to a frame.

Currently you have to guess or measure where to punch in the metal grommet rings to thread the rope through.

It would be nice to ask Preflight to put a little circle or even a cross in the cornes & at regular intervals along the edges as a guide.

Also how do I know Pantones are being applied properly in the RIP? Only way now is to make an alias for a crazy colour to be sure it is actually picking them up & applying them.

I would like an info panel in Preflight & Ripqueue which told me which Pantones were embedded where in a file and if they were being applied.

I can't comment on the Pantone, but that's a good suggestion.

On the grommet options. That has been brought to their attention before and the idea had been tossed around. I had one of their product managers at my shop today observing our workflow and trying to understand the process to see how they could develop or update tools to better help us. One of the ideas we discussed extensively was a grommet tool/option in preflight.

I can say with some assurance that I believe this will most definitely be a part of the Onyx tool set in the future.

UPDATE: The grommet feature was added into their product PrepEdge Std/Pro. I would still like to see something like this built into preflight, or maybe just embed/merge the standard version of PrepEdge into the current preflight toolset.

Hey scotty, do you know if any of the CNC routers, like for example the Multicam 3000 can do the placement of Grommets? I am looking to buy a Multicam with the contour cutting system.

I also agree with the original comment. Grommet marks would be nice as well as many other features ....in one program. Now theres Preflight, Layout Tool, SmartApps, PrepEdge....crazy!

Knowing the Pantone colors being recognized is HUGE.

The 10.2 update now includes the ability to view all of the spot colors being used in a file from within the Job Editor (previously known as Preflight). I'll get a screenshot a little later of how you view that.
