Eco-solvent primer?

Anyone ever try to spray a primer down on material before printing through an eco-solvent printer? I have a Mimaki JV-33 and want to print on hard-to-print-on material...

Like this, maybe?

We use adhesion promotors on a few materials. It's more needed for UV inks as they sit on the surface and not penetrate.

Not sure what you might find difficult to print on with an eco-solvent that comes on a roll?

Most of the stuff we use it on is glass. There's also acrylic and aluminium. And what ever else we find with a very smooth surface and the ink wont adhere to. Most substrates we buy are "digital" so it already has a coating.

Yeah, it's a long, long story.... but we want to print on polycarbonate. Uncoated. I know they made polycarb films that are made for the eco-solvent printers. I tried that, and it didn't work in my process. I tried printing on uncoated polycarb, and while it wasn't the BEST printing, it worked better for me in my process. And so, I want to prime the poly to get better ink adhesion and print quality, because that is where it is suffering for me.
