Does anyone have a method for making a custom lighting condition for use in creating backlit profiles?
I have i1 and a barbieri LFP transmissive spectros
Thrive 12
Various old X-rite apps
My aim is to measure light conditions of various boxes and allow for this in the profile build
Any suggestions appreciated

Onyx Version:
10.2
Printer(s):
L26500, W8400+Onyx / Mimaki JV4, JV5 +TexPrint

PM5 can do this (if you have spectral data). And I think the new i1 Profiler too.
In Onyx you can choose from standard illuminants when generating ICC profile. Don´t know about using custom light sources, but choosing proper illuminant could be the first step...
And don´t know about Thrive.

Thanks Mikulas

I tried to cobble together a PM5 workflow, had to fire up an old powerPC mac to access some ancient version of the i1 share software to take my ambient light reading from the lightbox.

Also I was importing Babieri measurements into PM5, long story short I had no confidence in my Frankenstien approach!

Thrive has a "custom" setting under lighting settings but I don't know exactly what it is looking for data wise

We have just paid for an Onyx advantage term so should be able to get direct support on this soon

This is completely OK. There is nothing what can go wrong with the numbers in the data files. The only problem is PM5 is a bit obsolete. Onyx sure has much better gamut mapping algos today. PM5 is not able to handle special media gamut shapes as yours well.

Onyx is exporting its ICC measurements as a set of "plain" spectro data as you can copy it from any CGATS file. (no header, nothing... probably observer 2° + illuminant D50)
I would bet Thrive is looking for same format for illuminant. If you can save it in i1 share, open the txt file, delete all except spectro data - go for it.

Onyx Version:
X11, X12
Printer(s):
Latex, UV, LED-UV

Measure lightbox color temperature with this,

"Sekonic Prodigi Color C-500"

then you could tweak whatever Dxx in your profile software.

Cheers
